Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty says a new 10-year national health care strategy is needed for the province’s aging population.
That’s the message Premier Dalton McGuinty delivered today during a speech to the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce held at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier.
“Increasing year-to-year base funding by six per cent is not comprehensive,” McGuinty said in reference to Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s federal election promise.
In the next 10 years, 1.6 million Ontarians will turn 65 and that’s twice as many who retired between 1981 and 1991.
“Think of it as a big grey revolution that’s also a golden opportunity,” McGuinty said. He delivered a speech to members of the Ottawa business community earlier today.
“Today’s retirees are not yesterday’s retirees. They’re more active, more engaged and eager to lead full and fulfilling lives,” said McGuinty.
