Once again this year, I am so happy to participate in the world-wide Help Portrait movement.
For our Ottawa group, we are very happy to announce that this years beneficiary will be the Minwaashin Lodge, an Aboriginal women’s support centre. For those of you that are not familiar with Help Portrait, have a look at the video below to see the effect it had last year on not only those being photographed, but the photographers themselves.
The Minwaashin Lodge, is an Aboriginal Women’s Support Centre whose mission is to provide prevention and intervention services and programs for grandmothers, women, children and youth who are survivers of family violence and the residential school system, including those impacted by intergenerational effects.
As of today, we will be four photographers and are awaiting word on a make-up artist and a hair sylist. There will be approximately 20-30 families passing though the centre on Saturday November 20th. Planning is well under way and we will update as new information becomes available.
